Today marks the 30th anniversary of June 12 1993 presidential election which was won by MKO Abiola but annulled by Ibrahim Babangida’s military regime. The struggle triggered by the annulment heightened the resistance against the continued military rule and eventually led to the restoration of civil rule in 1999.
