CDWR
CDWR Salutes Workers in Nigeria and Globally
The Campaign for Democratic and Workers’ Rights (CDWR) felicitates with workers in Nigeria and globally. Workers are confronted with monumental crises and attacks on living standards. CDWR feels strongly that the Labour leaders should use this year’s May Day for a sober reflection, to assess the socio-economic and political problems being confronted by workers and the poor masses and how best to resist them.
We call on the trade unions and labour leaders to rededicate themselves to fighting casualization, outsourcing work contracts and other indecent work practices which have reduced Nigerian workers to slaves. Labour leaders have to resuscitate the anti-casualisation committees, make it active in all affiliated unions and State Councils and mobilize Nigerian workers to resist all anti-labour practices.

NANNM, LAGOS
On this year’s May Day Celebration, the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Lagos State Council, joins all workers in Nigeria and around the world in commemoration. We ask that workers remain mindful of the significance of this occasion. As many gains made in previous struggles are being rolled back by the policies of the ruling political and capitalist class, it is a critical time to reflect on the material state of working people and our place in society.
To protect our rights and employment, workers must band together. At a time like this, we must battle for our nation’s safety and stability. It is time to organize against casualization of workers and precarious work conditions. It’s time to take action.
We wish all workers a Happy May Day.
